Founder’s Story
Yumemi has always been health-conscious and listened to the voice of her body.
In 2015, she had an emergency appendectomy where she was in the hospital for more than 20 days without being able to eat and barely drink anything. As a result, her body has drastically changed - she lost a lot of muscle weight, felt weaker, and the appendectomy left her with a huge abdominal scar. It felt like her body belonged to someone else.
Observing her body goes through so much change in just a matter of weeks was too much for her to confront.
During her recovery period, she learned mental and physical health go hand in hand. she became more aware of what she puts into her body and began to focus on accepting the change as part of the "new me" as she slowly figured out how to feel whole again. Being comfortable with this change has helped her accept that flaws and imperfections tell personal stories, and she has turned her abdominal scar into my unique body part - the part that was strong enough to endure the pain and re-build.
Each of us carries insecurities about our bodies. Learning to accept your insecurities and view them as your unique characteristics will allow you to appreciate your body as the way you are.
